The other day I decided to take some time to organize all the documents on my laptop (talk about a task) that have all piled up in a bunch of random folders over time. In the midst of this awful, but kind of satisfying task, I came across a bunch of old papers that I had written as assignments during undergrad. Of course, I had to stop and take the time to read a few which nonetheless got me reminiscing back to the hours upon hours spent working on all of those. Oddly enough, a large piece of me really began to miss the process that it took to get those assignments DONE. This process normally looked like packing up my backpack and mindlessly throwing it in my backseat, then driving to the McDonald’s drive-thru for cheap (delicious) iced-coffee. I would then continue to head straight to Starbucks with my McDonald’s in hand to get my desired coffee shop atmosphere (I slightly cringe at that now, but at the time it seemed completely logical). I’d find my seat and then on most occasions, whip out my laptop just to realize it was almost dead, which would lead to spending the next 5-10 minutes untangling my charger to plug it in. I then, of course, would put in my headphones, turn on my “deep focus” Spotify playlist, and zone out the world for a while as I cranked out some words on paper. Anyways, I found an array of some big projects and some shorter reflections that I wrote during those times, ranging from 1 pagers to my 31-page long research proposal (I’m still to this day glad that assignment is done and submitted) and it made me just miss writing, so here I am. This time I’m sitting on my bed at 12:20am with a Spotify playlist for late nights on in the background and a candle burning, effortlessly letting the words flow without the pressure of a deadline, and it feels pretty nice 🙂

I thought about writing out some long reflection on my life with some of the thoughts and ideas that have been floating around my mind and journal over the past few months, but to be honest I’m not sure if I even have the words for that right now. I think that Jesus has been very practically reshaping a lot in my life, and it’s all been a very tedious, personal, long process in a lot of ways. So maybe sometime soon, I’ll be able to type that out better. But for now, to satisfy my inner craving to put some words onto paper, I’m going to update you all on my trip!

Back in February when I first shared with the world that I would be leaving for this trip, I said to “keep your eyes open for more ways you may be able to help”, and then I never really updated anyone with that. So for those of you following along and perhaps wondering about what fundraising and support looks like… this is for you!! I’m classicly looking for support in two main ways – 1. prayer and 2. if able, financially.  As I’ve briefly mentioned here and there on different platforms, I have to raise $17,700 overall to cover costs of training, travel, lodging, food, and other necessities for throughout the year. Your prayers over that number and any dollar amount mean everything. I have typed up an “official” support letter that I’m working on sending out in doses to as many of you as I can, so in the meantime be on the lookout for that. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually enjoying the fundraising process so far… it’s been encouraging to see God provide, especially in the midst of all this other chaos.

The different ways to donate:
1-On this site. There are links to donate electronically linked right at the side and top of this page. You’re in the right spot!
2-By check. You can send a check directly to Adventures in Missions, or to me, and I would gladly take care of getting that to the right place. (message me for more info if you prefer this)
3-Venmo or any other mobile payment option that you may have. This would go directly to me, and I would then send it off.

*At this point, there have been no significant changes to my trip with our current situation. With that being said, if for some reason the trip needed to be canceled, they would give me the option to use my already raised funds to go on a future trip. If that’s not the case for me, your money can be refunded to you.

If you’ve made it this far – THANK YOU! I hope this helps you feel more in “the know” about fundraising and support. Of course, if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here all day 🙂 Know that I am deeply grateful for all the unique ways The Lord has placed each of you in my life, whether that be in big or small ways.

Lots of love,
Heather
