Hey everyone & welcome to my blog!

I’m Heather, 22 years old, from the small town of Etna Green up in northern Indiana. I grew up in a family of 6, holding my ground as the only girl in the mix of 3 brothers. I recently graduated from Anderson University with my bachelor’s in social work and now currently work with children and families in the mental health field. I love people, McDonald’s iced coffee, white chocolate mochas, Mountain Dew, slow mornings, the ocean, candles, black jeans, roller coasters, and Jesus Christ.

My story behind The World Race is this – I came across the program and spent an entire day(s) browsing the website. About a month later, I was applying and hopping on a phone interview to keep the process going. Fast forward a few more phone calls and coffee dates with friends and mentors, and here I am – preparing my blog for a crazy, year-long trip across the nations. Although I have no lengthy, incredible story behind my journey of getting to this point, I have a story of a simple, steady, and solid peace that has guided me here. As I look back a little on my life thus far, I can see how The Lord has been preparing my heart for years to fit right in with the mission behind The Race, making my decision to go an easy one. This opportunity feels like the kindest, sweetest gift from God.

I am so excited to be able to share another journey with all of you! From Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Japan, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia – your prayers and financial support mean the world. Make sure to subscribe to this blog if you’d like to receive update notices. 🙂
