Hey friends!

I’ve officially been in Costa Rica for 6 days now! To be honest, 6 days has felt like 6 weeks.. but it’s been so sweet.

My team (me and 5 other girls) and another team (3 girls, 3 boys) are were placed with a ministry called Fundacion Resplandecer up in northern Costa Rica for this first month. The rest of our squad is elsewhere in Costa Rica doing ministry with another organization.

Being here in Los Chiles has been just what my heart needed for this first month. It’s funny because quite truthfully when I found out my team was going to be separated from the rest of the majority of the squad I was pretty bummed. I didn’t think I’d like that as I tend to get major FOMO.. but I’ve been pressing into those emotions through prayer a little differently this time and it’s been cool to see God give me a little more perspective as to why me specifically being here, away from the rest is so good. I don’t want to miss the importance of this first month.

We’ve been working and doing a lot of projects around the ministry site ranging from basic cleaning, to painting, to chopping wood and more. One day my chore was to give the dog a bath which actually made me smile a little while simultaneously breaking my heart because I miss my puppy back home. We’ve been into town to do ministry with some of the local kids as well. A couple times a week we will be doing ministry by staying around the site and doing manual labor, and a couple times a week we will be doing more relational ministry with local kids.

Each evening we have “team time” which is an intentional time to dive deeper into community with our specific team. These times have been so sweet as my team and I have already been able to connect through sharing stories, asking tough questions, giving each other feedback, and more. We’ve also had lots of times for games and just hanging out with everyone. There’s 4 people in the group who know Euchre.. so that’s been a #blessing.

Thanks everyone for all your prayers, especially as I’m learning to transition into this new season of life. Tomorrow is our “free day” and we’re headed out to do a volcano hike and hit up some hot springs. CANNOT WAIT!

Don’t forget to check out my podcast as well on Spotify :) its called My World Race. New episodes are on there as well!

Much love,

Heather
